Friday Photo Favorites and OneMommy’s Thought Dump

I chose photos from a lovely spring day, funny tub moments and silly pictures caught unexpectadly to bring a smile to your face and warm your heart because this girl knows the power of a smile and need every ounce I can get these days!

Enjoying the pure innocence of my little ones. It is what brings me both joy and some times pain. They aren’t so little (size wise) anymore!

Feeling introspective. Finding a moment to feel so is truly a miracle however.
Planning to plant my seedlings this weekend. Oh how the new life inspires me and the smell of dirt makes me feel alive.
Craving a beautiful pairing of wine and cheese. It truly fixes everything and is such a simple solution.
Holding onto memories of being a child. Enjoying the thought that my children will too someday look back fondly.

Thinking it is time for a change in routine. I need to work exercise back in and take back the “me” time! Any suggestions?
Grateful for a family that may not share a lot of words that are deep or serious but one that is always there when things get tough and willing to drop everything to make it all better.
Anticipating the coming months regardless of the outcome and hoping to endure them with my head held high so I can be a source of support and not just another person to care for.

Wishing, as always, that I could just spend some time on a beach with a beverage in hand. Maybe I could put some sand in my bathtub and crank the sound machine…I do make a mean margie!
Reading Resilience: Reflections on the Burdens and Gifts of Facing Life’s Adversities bye Elizabeth Edwards. Trying to find strength in other people’s stories and trying to be inspired to be strong.

Wondering what this spring will bring when it is February and our roof is already leaking!? I am guessing a basement full of water is what it will bring but time will tell.

A Day in the Life of a Toddler

This right here will explain where the hell I have been for the past month (maybe it hasn’t been that long but it sure feels like it). This little guy is in pure discovery mode and he has “discovered” that he is pretty capable of most things now including climbing chairs.

Why oh why do they need to climb ALL DAY and on everything?!?!

The cycle in our house currently that is consuming every waking moment for me is much like a chain effect.

The oldest gets an activity going that the middle child wants to be part of.

They then fight.

Duke it out.

Scream and cry.

Onto the second phase.

The youngest decides now is a good time to go running into the bathroom and remove all the towels from the drawer. Logically he then places them in the toilet and upon further inflection he determines it might be wise to also add the toilet brush into the mix.

Makes perfect sense right?!

Now this comes full circle.

Upon discovering said youngest child this momma finds that the middle child (could have been the oldest who knows) has forgotten to flush the toilet so all the additions (towels and toilet brush) have created a sort of soup of the variety you want nothing to do with.

TRUST ME.

YOU DON’T!

Now we are back to the beginning.

The two older kids have stopped fighting but now have a mess that they refuse to clean up.

Of course this includes a bin of toys too small for the youngest which only entices him to come running at mach speed to see what he can get into.

Round and round we go.

Where we stop nobody knows.

This momma wants off this crazy train wreck roller coaster!

I look forward to a more peaceful time when we are passed this age of discovery that creates such chaos.

Now I know the next phase is rarely much better than the current but this phase is always the hardest for me because instead of moving forward you just go in circles.

It is physically, emotionally and mentally EXHAUSTING!!!

Did I forget to mention this doesn’t include ANY of the everyday clean up, cooking or otherwise.

Oh no.

This is just the fun stuff.

Put Your Oxygen Mask on First

Today I watched a woman put on a brave face for her kids when she really needed it more than they did.

It reminded me why mothers are true heroes.

In their moment of need they console.

They do not take time to break down and allow their emotions and resolve to crumble.

No.

They stay strong like warriors because they know that is what their kids need most.

They are resilient, ever bending and forever giving of themselves.

Even in the most unknowing of times they don’t worry about “me”.

They worry about everyone around them.

How are they feeling?

Are they scared?

Sad?

Angry?

Do they need me to help explain or cheer them up?

No. No should be the answer.

No. They do not need things to be smoothed over or to be cheered up.

They need you to do something for someone that is rarely on the receiving end of being taken care of.

They need you to take care of “you”!

Not just take care of, but to see her find her bliss. To truly be happy and whole as a person without guilt.

To see her revel in simple pleasures that she holds closest and has denied herself for too many years in order to care for others.

They need her to do what we are always told to do as mothers but rarely do and often pay the price.

“Put on your oxygen mask first before securing onto others.”

Simply put but a true life saver.

This one simple act can fulfill so many purposes.

It not only allows her to take care of herself, it reminds other women and daughters to do the same.

It reminds us that we must be there to protect ourselves as well as our loved ones if we want to be the best we can be.

In a sense, it is ironic that I watched this woman be so strong when it was okay to be weak.

She has always been the one to teach the importance of securing your oxygen mask.

My hope is that this day of bravery gives her a reminder many days to come that she is just as important and just as human as the rest of us.

That she allows us to take care of ourselves and each other as well as her.

Let US be the warriors!

After all, isn’t that what she has been teaching us all along?

Enjoying Jenna Marbles Youtube videos. If you can stand the vulgar language you might get a good laugh too!

Feeling humbled by the generosity and thoughtfulness of others. People are truly kind and good. It is refreshing.
Planning my attack and plan of action on a new magnet makeup board. Here is a glimpse of what I will attempt.
Craving banana bread pancakes. And so they shall be!
Holding my nose, in a tissue. Also, my bladder function since sneezing has now reduced me to a small child. Reminder to wear diapers when sick.

Thinking of how far into winter it is and how little winter we have felt. Aaahhh.
Grateful for my children that keep me laughing and remind me I am not god.
Anticipating my hubby coming homes. Ready for my weekly escape to the grocery store. Sad.

Wishing for a great girls night in. Now to get my family to go somewhere…
Reading The Soulkeepers by G.P. Ching. I just started it so the verdict is still out but it definitely fits the bill for NOT real life which is exactly what I needed.
Wondering what the weekend will bring. Oh right. Superbowl weekend. So lots of TV and me cooking. Boo.

Wino Wednesday

No whining today just wine-ing!

Actually, I took the high road and when the going got tough, I got creative. For lunch I decided to venture into the sea and created a sailor themed meal for the kiddos. I had seen this awesome idea on Pinterest (oh Pinterest you might be the end of productivity as we know it) and ran with it. I made fruit boats out of kiwi and pears and served hoctopus (not spelled wrong they really were hoctopus), all with a side of goldfish crackers.
