Fresh Baked Buns

Baked Buns

Sometimes I get on a kick where everything is made from scratch. This may sound amazing but it also means I can slide off the deep end and we could be eating TV dinners for a period of time too!

Beggars can’t be choosers though so we will enjoy this “homemade” kick for what it is.

I stumbled upon a great (easy) recipe for making hamburger buns on Pinterest and thought “why not?”.

I have made bread before and had decent success (there have also been some serious fails that shall remain nameless).

Check out the original recipe from She Makes and Bakes here

I would change a couple of things for next time however.

The buns were WAY too big for my taste.

I would make 16 balls instead of 8 (teeheee I said balls) and would really focus on smooshing them down a bit more.

Also, I only let them “proof” for 30 minutes once in ball form.

30 minutes was plenty!

This may vary depending on the temp in your kitchen.

I also did a quick egg wash (1 egg and a tablespoon of water whisked until combined) and sprinkled on some sesame seeds for flare.

I baked my buns for approximately (I say this because honestly it was chaos and it could be less or slightly more) 15 minutes per the recipe.

Bake and enjoy (I may or may not have eaten one fresh out of the oven and burnt my mouth – learn from my hypothetical mistakes please).

  1. Those look so yummy! Nothing better than a fresh baked bun…just let it cool a little first next time. Ouch.
